Why Choose The Care Sector?

Britain’s population is undergoing some dramatic demographic changes and as a nation we are ageing. Older groups are growing much faster than the rest of the population. One of the staggering statistics is that over the next 25 years the number of people aged 75 and over will increase by 76%!

The vast majority of older people want to remain in their own home rather than move to a care facility. There is a strong desire by the Government and voluntary organisations to enable people to remain at home for as long as possible, combined with a strong recognition that the way care is currently provided needs to change.

Local Authorities across the UK are spending in excess of £16.5 billion on social care for adults and this is forecast to at least treble over the next 20 years. On top of public sector expenditure, the government is estimating that a further £5.9 billion will be spent on private care for the elderly, reflecting the massive market that Home Instead franchise owners can work with. It has also been estimated that the cost of dementia care alone exceeds that of cancer, heart disease and stroke combined.
