Senior Nail Care in Ascot: Meet Liz
Liz is a regular client of our senior nail care in Ascot. Here's a bird's eye view of one of our recent visits.
Liz's Senior Nail Care Appointment
Our Care Manager, Lauren Mitchell, recently spent time with Liz and our care professional, Ali McKeever, and we thought it would make a great story to share on the blog.
The lovely Liz is one of Home Instead’s most regular nail care clients. She often enjoys pedicures and manicures and sees them as a practical necessity.
Liz says that due to poorer dexterity these days, she can no longer trim her own nails, which is why she likes to book with Ali every four to six weeks. You see, for Liz, keeping her nails short is about practicality in her daily life.
During today’s treatment, Ali started by soaking Liz’s feet with a bowl of warm, soapy water while working on her manicure. Ali says this helps soften toenails, which can become more challenging to work with as we age.
Ali shifts focus to Liz’s fingernails, catching up on what’s been happening with Liz since she last visited. The two are beautifully chatty, which is great to see – social connection and social interaction are hugely beneficial at every stage of life. And even though Liz is older and less mobile than she once was, there’s plenty to share.
While Ali buffs Liz’s nails, Liz admires how shiny and healthy her nails look. And they do! Liz only wears polish on special occasions and day-to-day likes to keep her nails natural, so this is perfect.
Ali cleaned and dried Liz’s feet and trimmed and filed her toenails, finishing off with an extremely beneficial foot and leg massage using Liz’s favourite moisturising cream—all while she was in the comfort of her favourite reclining chair.
Liz commented that she felt ‘very good’ after her treatment and was already looking forward to her next catch-up with Ali. You can tell right away that these two have a great bond.
