We spoke to Kevin Liddy, Managing Director, about his firm’s recent partnership with Home Instead Barnsley.
Home Instead is ideally positioned to help our clients. 70% of our clinical negligence clients are disabled or elderly, meaning we have a huge overlapping client base.
When someone is affected by a life changing injury, there is often a need for outside help. Traditionally it would be the family that care for an individual, but with a lack of expertise, or time, and state budgets being overstretched, in appropriate cases, Home Instead can provide that extra care and ease pressure on families.
In a case of personal injury or clinical negligence, where an individual has succeeded in their claim, they are entitled to be placed in a financial position that optimises their recovery. That can include paying for care that is needed because of the negligence. Care at Home are ideally placed to provide that care, so that the client can begin on the road to rehabilitation and recuperation.
Additionally, in situations where a spouse has lost a loved one, it can be extremely isolating. The companionship services offered by Home Instead are a good way to combat this, and again in appropriate circumstances, can be paid for in damages to compensate for that loss.
There is a considerable synergy between our two companies. Our role in acting for a client is not only to obtain maximum damages, but to ensure the optimisation of recovery. If rehabilitation is not optimised, it can have a devastating effect..
We can work together for the benefit of our clients. I hope that Care at Home can also make family members aware that they can obtain a solicitor’s investigation into medical care given to them, or a loved one, without fee.
