Personal care works best when it’s provided by someone you know and trust. Our Care Professionals take time to learn your preferences – from water temperature for washing to which toiletries you prefer. One client’s husband shared: “My wife trusts the carers fully and is very pleased with the way they look after her. They are helpful, patient, reassuring and competent.” This attention to detail helps make personal care feel comfortable and dignified.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

The quality of personal care comes down to having the right team with the right training. Our Silver Award from Basildon Council recognises how we invest in our Care Professionals’ development, with regular training sessions covering everything from safe moving and handling to specialised personal care techniques. Many team members have been with us for years, bringing valuable experience and understanding to their roles. Our office team coordinates closely with Care Professionals, making sure they have the support and guidance needed to provide sensitive, professional care.
Strong relationships with local healthcare providers help us coordinate personal care effectively. Through our work with the Basildon Dementia Action Alliance and status as an accredited Dementia Friendly Community, we understand how to adapt support sensitively. Regular communication with local GPs, district nurses and pharmacists ensures our personal care service fits seamlessly into overall health support. Our monthly volunteering at Steeple View Kitchen shows our wider commitment to community wellbeing.

We understand that it can be difficult accepting personal care and that is why you will be introduced to your Care Professionals and they will spend time getting to know you before assisting you with your personal care.
At Home Instead we ensure that each client has a small team of Care Professionals in place to provide you with care so you can be confident that you will have continuity from the same Care Professionals.
At Home Instead, we have a robust approach to ensuring that all Care Professionals have regular observations of practice that we call Support Visits, and assessments of competency for key activities such as handling medication or providing catheter care.
