Exercise is Great!

Whatever your age, exercise is great for both the body and the soul. The list of benefits includes improving cardiovascular health, building strength, balance and flexibility, lowering blood pressure, helping with weight management, and helping to combat fatigue.

As many of us will have noticed, participation in wellness activities can also leave us with a sense of achievement which in turn boosts confidence and self esteem, improves our mood and reduces the risk of stress-related ailments.

But you don’t have to train like an Olympic athlete to gain the benefits. Modest exercise is effective and, let’s be honest, better to enjoy it and make exercise something you will look forward to!

Keeping active through modest exercise will help you remain pain-free, independent and healthy as you get older.

Seated Exercise Classes

Let’s Move comprises fun, seated, exercise sessions, enabling participants to improve or maintain their mobility and flexibility.

Aimed primarily at the over 70’s, Let’s Move also caters for people living with dementia, Parkinson’s, physical challenges, sensory deprivation, and those recovering from strokes etc, or anyone who just wants to get out of the house and have a laugh with a few like minded souls.

Qualified and experienced instructors Janet and Dee, who are also Home Instead trained Care Professionals, put participants through their paces with upbeat musical routines and various props. To provide variety and broaden the scope of the workouts, the music and routines are changed each week.  Although the routines are developed for sitting, participants are welcome to stand if they can do so safely. As well as the limbs, the workouts will improve core muscles and balance.

Sessions are held at two regular venues and by arrangement for local groups. The regular weekly sessions are held at 2.00pm on Tuesdays at Sherfield on Loddon Village Hall and at 10.30am on Wednesdays at Silchester Village Hall. The Tuesday sessions are followed by “Tea and Natter” for participants and carers to get to know each other. Your first class will be free, after that we will ask for £6 per session.
