The Basingstoke Companionship Care team, here to help every step of the way

Our experienced team, based in Basingstoke, has been providing companionship care at home services to the people of north Hampshire since 2015. Companionship is often the first step in a care journey which can take a client on to personal care, multiple daily visits and live in care; we can support you on every step of that journey. Why companionship home care? Many people might be dismissive, but it can play a vital early role in enabling the elderly to remain happy, comfortable, safe and independent in their own homes. As well as addressing loneliness, companionship can encompass nutritional support, exercise, social interaction, mental stimulation, outings and many other activities.

Why Companionship Care may be right for you

Loneliness amongst the elderly is often overlooked. Through our carefully selected and trained care professionals, we can provide the right person to offer company and social interaction, taking your loved one out maybe for a drive and coffee & cake somewhere, supporting them to revive an old hobby or take up a new one, getting some exercise or reminiscing at home. Nutrition is also a common concern. Many families have come to us because a loved one is losing interest in or the ability to prepare their food, even when provided with ready meals. Our carers can prepare meals, importantly involving the client in that process. The benefits are not only in respect of nutrition, but also through the interaction and stimulation provided.

Tailored Companionship Care in Basingstoke

Maisie is a companionship care client, having lunchtime visits to prepare a meal and provide social interaction. When she expressed an interest in getting more exercise and meeting more people, we started taking her to our Let’s Move seated exercise classes. The sessions are followed by Tea & Talk, where participants can socialise and make new friends. Maisie is loving it!
George is a regular attendee at Let’s Move. His daughter, keen to see her father occupied and stimulated, has engaged us to take George on long outings three times a week, covering many unusual places to visit in north Hampshire. George loves his time with “his ladies”.

Trusted Companionship Care from experienced home care professionals in Basingstoke

Alan and Carol met at our Let’s Move sessions in Sherfield on Loddon. Eager to make more opportunities to meet, both soon started also attending Let’s Move in Silchester and in Cliddesden, and then Carol moved in to live with Alan. We now provide home care visits for Carol, and take the couple to our monthly Let’s Sing For Memories at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke.
Doris has two particular interests: going to garden centres and playing scrabble. Guess what her two long companionship care visits each week are devoted to – inspecting the plants and then having tea and cakes at Conkers Garden Centre, and proving that she is still as sharp as a pin with words. She says that her care visits keep her feeling young and active.

Additional support and activities in Basingstoke

Exercise remains important as you age, helping the elderly to remain pain-free, mobile and healthy. Our Let’s Move classes are fun seated exercise sessions, to music, held in Silchester and in Sherfield on Loddon each week; they are open to all members of the community and are followed by tea and biscuits and the chance to get to know the other participants. In case Let’s Move isn’t right for you, we have investigated other exercise and wellness activities for the elderly.
Good nutrition similarly remains important. Our community team offers talks on good nutrition for groups, and we have an advice booklet on the subject. Meanwhile you might be interested in investigating tea rooms and local produce around Basingstoke.
