Care Professional of the Year Finalist

Local Care Pro gets National recognition

Local care professional is a finalist in National care awards

Local lady, Louisa Endersby has been named one of three finalists in Home Instead’s National ‘Care Professional of the Year’ award, recognising her outstanding commitment to supporting older people in the community.

This annual award celebrates exceptional care professionals across home care company Home Instead’s 260 UK offices. Louisa was chosen out of 12,000 Home Instead care professionals for her extraordinary dedication to dementia care and making a difference to her clients’ lives.

Louisa’s journey began at 15, caring for her great grandma who lived with dementia. This led her to train as a mental health nurse and work in the NHS for 30 years, beginning on a dementia ward. In 2022, she joined Home Instead Beverley and Hull, keen to help older people remain in their own homes with dignity and independence.

Louisa commented: “I am deeply honoured to be nominated for this award. Being able to support people in a way that helps them live their lives with dignity, joy, and connection is what drives me every day and it’s a privilege to work with such amazing individuals!”

Louisa’s dedication has transformed the life of her client, Jim, who lives with dementia. She has worked with local businesses to create inclusive spaces for him, such as ensuring they are always able to dine in a quieter area of Jim’s favourite restaurants. Louisa also plans interesting and stimulating days out to local spots like The Deep, the Yorkshire Air Museum, the seaside, and Beverley Minster just to name a few.  This helps Jim to enjoy an excellent quality of life and provides an opportunity for Jim’s family to enjoy some respite. Louisa has also helped Jim to overcome anxiety around showering by providing calm, patient, professional support, and used creative approaches to boost his confidence and dignity.

Mandy Aitken, owner of Home Instead Beverley and Hull, commented: “Louisa embodies everything we value at Home Instead. Her compassion and innovative care make her truly deserving of this recognition, and we are incredibly proud to have her on our team.”

The awards ceremony will be hosted by TV legend Lorraine Kelly, taking place at conference centre Manchester Central.
