The 13th to the 19th of May is Dementia Action Week and we're raising awareness in Hull
Dementia Action Week is an initiative launched by the Alzheimer’s society to raise awareness of the condition and to help people take action in being diagnosed. Although difficult, diagnosis is an important step to make sure the right support is being provided and yet 1/3 of people with dementia do not have a diagnosis.
To help close the gap on diagnosis, the Alzheimer’s society has created a Symptoms Checklist that can be used if you’re worried about yourself or a loved one. It’s a helpful tool to record symptoms when it comes to having a conversation with your GP and you can find the checklist here.
Here at Home Instead, we’re supporting the Alzheimer’s society by distributing their Symptoms Checklist throughout Hull and East Yorkshire. You may have seen our recent article in Just Beverley and you can read a copy here.
We provide support to many clients living with dementia in Hull and the surrounding areas and we’ve created a unique dementia training programme for our Care Professionals that is accredited by City & Guilds. The training gives them the confidence and understanding that they need to support our clients.
