24 hr Care In Your Own Home versus Live-In Care - Home Instead Bournemouth & Christchurch
24 hour care means round the clock care. This is divided into several shifts to suit your needs and requirements.
For example:
10 Hours of waking night care
Waking night care is when a Care Pro provides care throughout the night. Learn more about overnight care here.
12 hours of hourly care
This is where you would have a Care Pro support you in your home throughout the day for 14 hours before a night carer would take over. Hourly care is divided into 3-4 shifts and covered by different Care Pros.
The team & involvement with a 24-hour care package is quite large, but they work on rotation, and there are usually 6 Day Carers and 2 – 3 night Carers working on rotation. An alternative to 24 hour around the clock care is Live-in Care.
Live-in Care is a safe and affordable alternative to a residential care facility that allows you to maintain control over your care while receiving constant, one-on-one help in the comfort of your own home.
Care Pros will reside with the care recipient in their home to provide an average of 10 hours care per day, giving you and your family peace of mind that you will always have someone present for reassurance or in an emergency.
In comparison with 24 Hour round the clock care, Care Pros will take shifts of approx. 4-5 hours each during the day over a period of 14 hours, and another Care Pro will visit for your overnight care, which is for a period of 10 hours.
At Home Instead Bournemouth & Christchurch, we provide one-on-one help in your home, ranging from companionship and befriending to sophisticated health care for health concerns such as dementia, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy and other health conditions.
A Care Pro is a highly-trained, skilled carer who is matched to you, your specialist care needs, and your situation. They will support you and provide you with one-on-one help as needed in the comfort of your own home.
With Home Instead Live-in Care, a Care Pro is assigned to your loved one to live with them in their own home and assist them with daily activities. Allowing you to stay in your home with loved ones, pets and keeping you connected to friends in your local community.
The number of hours of care you require each day is entirely up to you and your loved one to decide.
Home care & Live-in Care are two of the safest options available.
The risk of infection from outside your home is reduced when you have a Care Pro residing with you or a team of trusted Care Pros dedicated to visiting your home.
Our most important priority is to keep you as safe and shielded as possible while enjoying a higher quality of life from being in the comfort of your home.
Three to Four Care Pros are scheduled every day for 14 hours divided between them, and one for 10 Hours during the night.
A care recipient may wish to schedule three 4-5 hour visits to guarantee Care Pros are at their most alert.
A single Care Pro can only work a total of four nights per week. As a result, several 24-hour carers will be scheduled to cover all visits and provide enough cover should someone go off sick or be on holiday.
An hourly rate is charged for 24-hour care. For nights, the fee is billed at a fixed rate; Day hours are billed at an hourly rate.
The same Care Pro is scheduled for a period of several weeks to live-in before being swapped to provide a break.
The Live-in Care Pro is entitled to a 2 hour break during the 10 hour average working day. The Care Pro on a Live-in shift is entitled to an 10 hour sleep break and must have their own room. The cost of Live-in Care is paid at a set rate per week, and the cost of providing a Care Pro to cover the two-hour break is invoiced at an hourly rate, however it is possible for the client to decide to be left on their own during the 2 hours or family members to provide this themselves.
Choosing a Live-in Care or 24 hour care programme to maintain your independence in familiar surroundings while also having the security of a Live-in Care Pro on hand to assist you at all hours of the day and night. Live-in Care enriches your life by providing company from your devoted Live-in carer, in addition to assisting you with your medical and health needs.
It is also essential to state that this service is not just for the elderly.
There are everyday situations, conditions and events where live-in care offers the solution to challenges you might face moving forward:
Long-term conditions: Diseases like Parkinson’s require close and careful monitoring. Our Care Pros are trained to observe any changes to a client’s health, wellbeing and behaviour, ready to take action if there is ever a cause for concern.
Dementia care: Living at home means staying in familiar surroundings and maintaining those daily tasks that might not be possible in residential care. 24-hour Home care suits somebody living with dementia, where continuity of life in the home they have grown to love is proven to be beneficial.
Losing a spouse: When a spouse passes away, it takes some time to adjust, both emotionally and practically. A Care Pro can be a much-needed companion and fulfil the support role that was recently lost.
Frailty: Getting older for many means not being able to do the simplest of things, even lifting the kettle to make a cup of tea. Live-in Care can support someone who is becoming frail to maintain their independence and quality of life.
Unexpected illness and events: Whether it’s a fall or a sudden illness, your loved one could be susceptible to events that may quickly have a need for care. Professional help will relieve the pressure from you and your family.
Suppose you struggle with daily life because of a medical or health condition and want to live more independently. In that case, a Professional carer offering one-to-one care can be the help you need to get back to your social life and family.
Live-in Care is a real alternative for vulnerable people who don’t like the idea of nursing homes and care homes. Our type of care offers gentle encouragement where required to get you back doing the things you love.
We work with vulnerable people to give the best quality of care available. We’ll take the time to find out what it is you need to get back to living independently and formulate a 24-hour care plan that encapsulates everything you need.
Situations may vary, and no one client care plan fits all, but one thing is sure: our priority is to provide care and support for your loved one with the highest level of care—the support we provide to vulnerable or elderly people with the highest level of care we can provide.
