On Thursday 4th July, 2pm – 4pm, Home Instead will host ‘Tea and Something Lovely’ at Bishop Hannington Church Centre in Hove. A free gathering perfect for those living with dementia and all others.
Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham have been hosting Tea and Something Lovely events since September 2021, shortly after Covid restrictions were lifted. We wanted to provide our elderly community with a free event which allowed those who joined to socialise and relax in a friendly environment again.
Our goal at Home Instead is to help local older adults thrive and stay connected to others with these sessions. Our upcoming ‘Tea and Something Lovely’ event promises to be a memorable afternoon with uplifting music, courtesy of the special guests – Movingsounds. Their live performance will lift spirits and create connections among attendees in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Getting to the event is convenient, with the Bishop Hannington Church Centre located on Nevill Avenue in Hove. For those requiring transportation assistance, Streamline Taxis (01273 202020) and Radiocabs (01273 204060) offer wheelchair-accessible cabs. The Brighton and Hove 5A bus also stops directly outside the church for those preferring public transportation.
To get tickets for our event please visit our Eventbrite page here.
All abilities are welcome at this fully accessible event and attendance is free. However it is recommended to book your space in advance by calling the Home Instead office on 01273 284090 or email [email protected].
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with others and enjoy live music in a warm and welcoming environment. Mark your calendars for 4th July and get ready to experience an afternoon filled with joy, laughter and community spirit.
Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham have hosted wonderful Tea and Something Lovely events in the past. In May, we held a successful session and invited Dementia Singing Experience, Sussex to perform. They had everyone singing along to classic hits from the 1950s by artists like Doris Day, Peggy Lee, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley. Suzanne and Juliette (DementiaSingingExperience) had attendees tapping their toes and reminiscing. The relaxed environment provided the perfect setting for a joyful afternoon.
We also invited some fantastic student helpers from Blatchington Mill School to the event. The older adults tremendously enjoyed chatting with the students over tea and cake, creating new connections between the generations.
Dementia is becoming ever more prevalent in older people as we start to live longer. But we’re also getting more adept in recognising the signs and achieving an early diagnosis. With or without a diagnosis, people still need help retaining as much independence as possible. Early support can help families establish care as part of a daily routine, helping those with memory loss to remain independent. At Home Instead we know how challenging it is caring for someone with dementia, but our years of experience mean we are experts in providing effective, compassionate and dignified dementia care at home.
