Home Instead Brighton, Hove and Shoreham provides compassionate, personalised care services to older adults in Mile Oak, supporting clients to live independently in their own homes. Our caring team extends their support throughout this peaceful residential area nestled in the South Downs, and its surrounding communities of Portslade, Hangleton and Southwick. We take great joy in helping our clients stay connected to their community, whether that’s attending Sunday service at the Church of the Good Shepherd, enjoying lunch at the welcoming Mile Oak Inn, taking a gentle stroll around Mile Oak Recreation Ground, or spending sunny afternoons at Mile Oak Farm watching the animals and taking in the beautiful countryside views.

From companionship to complex care needs, our team provides support tailored to each individual’s wishes. We offer expertise in dementia, stroke rehabilitation and our newly introduced nail care service. Working closely with local healthcare providers including Mile Oak Medical Centre on Chalky Road, we ensure bespoke support that typically begins within two weeks of your first contact with us. For those with complex issues, our Care Professionals bring specialist knowledge in conditions such as Parkinson’s, ensuring expert care right on your doorstep. We understand the importance of local connections which is why we work closely with Well Pharmacy at Mile Oak Medical Centre, collecting prescriptions on behalf of our clients when needed.
Mile Oak’s excellent location, with easy access to the A27 and Shoreham Bypass, allows us to provide responsive care throughout the area and beyond. The regular bus service along Graham Avenue makes it easy for our clients, with the support of their Care Professionals, to stay connected with the wider community. Take our lovely client Roy, who benefits from regular outings with his Care Professional Lisa. Together they attend ‘Snooker for Parkinson’s‘ sessions at nearby Portslade Sports Centre, where Lisa’s specialist Parkinson’s training helps her provide exactly the right support for Roy’s condition, from mobility assistance to medication reminders and help with mealtimes.

Our commitment to excellence shines through in our achievements, including winning the Brighton and Hove Business Awards for Customer Service in 2021 and maintaining an impressive 9.9/10 rating on Homecare.co.uk. What truly sets us apart is our dedication to continuity of care – we ensure the same Care Professionals visit the same clients each time, with visits lasting at least an hour. Our team members are encouraged to develop their skills further through the Care Certificate and specialist training in areas such as dementia and stroke rehabilitation, contributing to our Outstanding CQC rating for responsiveness.
Beyond individual care, we’re invested in nurturing the Mile Oak elderly community through various initiatives. Our Love to Move and Time to Chat sessions bring people together for gentle exercise and socialising, while our Tea and Something Lovely events at Bishop Hannington Church Centre offer entertainment and companionship. We’re particularly proud of our ‘What’s on Where’ community services and wellbeing guides which help readers find fantastic local groups to attend within the local area. It’s all part of our mission to create a caring, connected community where everyone can thrive.
