A warm welcome to our ‘Film Thursdays’ for seniors in Bristol
All the team at Home Instead Bristol East are excited to announce the return of our Home Instead Bristol ‘Film Thursdays’ for Seniors, a local initiative designed to bring people together for an afternoon of films, fun, and friendly conversation.
These gatherings happen every last Thursday of every month, and upcoming films and screening dates are published on our Facebook page. Our events are open to all seniors and held at Unity Oldland Methodist Church, BS30 9QS. On Thursday 26th September we returned with a screening of ‘The Duke’ and our next screening will be of the heartwarming film ‘Love Sarah’ on 31st October at 2pm. Cake and refreshments are served too, so you can enjoy a treat and watch a film with company. We would love to see you there!
Presenting our next film
For our October 2024 film showing, we’ll be presenting ‘Love Sarah’, it’s a delightful British drama about love, family, and second chances. The story follows three women who come together to bring the dream of their late mother, Sarah, to life by opening a bakery in her memory. It’s a tale of community, resilience, and the power of food to bring people together – perfect for a cosy afternoon.
One aspect that makes the film special is its focus on connection. As the characters manage their personal struggles, they find strength in each other, reminding us of the importance of support and togetherness, it’s a theme we value highly at our Home Instead office here in Hanham.

Watching films together offers entertainment and it can positively impact mental health. Films provide an escape from daily stresses, and coming together for an afternoon can create a sense of routine, lift our spirits and provide a refreshing change of scenery. As well as providing a topic of conversation too.

Our Bristol Film Thursdays offer a welcoming space to connect with others, enjoy refreshments, and experience the joy of watching a film. Whether you come on your own or with friends, you’ll find friendly faces and a supportive community. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon and meet others from Oldland, Longwell Green, Hanham, and Willsbridge and we hope will also boost your mood.
Supporting our local community
At Home Instead Bristol East, our Care Professionals support clients in their own homes, providing care, companionship, and help getting out and about in the local area. From Oldland to Longwell Green, Hanham, and Willsbridge, we assist clients with day-to-day activities while ensuring they stay connected to their community. Our Bristol Film Thursdays are one way we aim to extend this support, hosting events for local seniors.
