On 28th November at 2 pm, we’re thrilled to present “La La Land”
A modern classic that won over audiences and critics alike. This romantic musical, directed by Damien Chazelle, runs for approximately 2 hours and 8 minutes. Set in contemporary Los Angeles but with a timeless feel, “La La Land” follows the story of an aspiring actress, Mia (played by Emma Stone), and a passionate jazz musician, Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), as they pursue their dreams while navigating the challenges of love and ambition. With its enchanting cinematography, memorable musical numbers, and nostalgic nod to Hollywood’s Golden Age, “La La Land” earned six Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Actress for Emma Stone. Its themes of passion, creativity, and following your dreams make it a heartwarming choice for our November screening.
Then, in the new year, join us for “The Notebook” on 30th January
Another much loved film that explores themes of love and enduring connection. This touching drama, adapted from Nicholas Sparks’ novel, tells the story of Noah and Allie, a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s. Starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, “The Notebook” has been a hit audiences worldwide for its depiction of love’s resilience over time. It’s a perfect choice to kick off the new year with warmth and reflection on relationships.
Our Film Thursdays are about bringing people together. In our busy and often isolating world, simple activities like watching a film can bring us all a sense of togetherness, joy, and companionship. Engaging in community events like these also has profound benefits for our mental health, especially as we get older.
