Introducing Claire and Sarah, experienced Live-In Care Supervisors who join Home Instead Bristol North covering Bristol, North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas.
At Home Instead Bristol North, we take great pride in announcing the addition of Claire and Sarah to our family, as Live-In Care Supervisors. These two dynamic local experts bring with them a wealth of experience and a genuine dedication to enhancing the lives of older adults.
We sat down with Claire and Sarah to delve into their own journeys, their passion for care, and their new roles within our team.
Q: How did you both find your way to Home Instead as Live-In Care Supervisors?
Claire and Sarah: Home Instead has always stood out as well-respected in the care industry. In our previous roles, we had met with Andrew Wood on a shared client project, and we quickly realised we had the same passion for providing live-in care, giving people the choice to stay in their own homes, when they need 24-hour care.
Q: What inspired you to join the care industry?
Claire: We’ve always been drawn to a career that is rewarding. There’s nothing better than knowing you’ve made a significant difference in someone’s life.
Sarah: Absolutely. The profound impact you can have not just on older adults but on their families too is incredibly fulfilling.
Q: In your view, what qualities define an excellent live-in carer?
Claire and Sarah: A person who is empathetic, caring, compassionate, dedicated and promotes client’s independence. A good live in care professional is naturally warm and friendly, putting people at ease to also be a companion.
Q: What are your thoughts on living and working in North Bristol?
Claire and Sarah: North Bristol is surrounded by beautiful green spaces and the warm, diverse community makes it a delight. Plus, the excellent public transport and broad range of amenities for everyone.
Q: Now for two important questions! Tea or Coffee? Dogs or cats?
Claire: I’m a lover of a cup of tea, I also really enjoy going home to a warm greeting from my dog and 2 cats.
Sarah: You can’t beat a nice cup of coffee and a cuddle from my dog when I get home.
Q: Can you share a particularly memorable experience with a client?
Claire and Sarah: We once helped a gentleman who had become isolated and withdrawn in a care home. Transitioning him to live-in care at his own home and matching him with the right Care Professionals brought a remarkable change. Within weeks, he was actively engaging in community activities and was visibly happier. Each visit was met with his beaming smile, which was incredibly rewarding.
Q: What distinguishes Home Instead from other care providers?
Claire and Sarah: Care Professionals are matched to clients, this allows the building of deep relationships, care continuity and the client builds trust and feel comfortable and supported. The support from other offices, everyone is friendly and welcoming. We love that Home Instead are part of their community, the film clubs that the Bristol North team have set up, enabling local residents to go to a safe place, meet other people and build friendships, easing feelings of isolation.
Q: What advice would you give to those considering a career in live-in care?
Claire and Sarah: Build positive relationships with not only the client, but also their family, friends, and neighbours. Promote independence and work to the client’s routine, at their pace and be their trusted companion.
Q: Any final words about yourselves?
Claire and Sarah: We are passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated to providing the best quality of care and enabling clients to live rewarding lives in their own home.
