We launched our first WOW Guide back in Autumn 2021 to help you restore those lost social connections, meet new people and get out and about once more and get back to normal after these two difficult years.
From arts & crafts clubs to fitness classes, coffee mornings, friendship groups and societies, there is something for everyone, everyday of the week in our listings pages.
With over 170 groups, classes and clubs listed, our new guide contains a huge variety of activities taking place across Halifax, Brighouse, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden. Whatever your interest or wherever you live, there’s sure to be something to suit you. Seated exercise, wellbeing walks, lunch clubs, arts & crafts groups, men’s sheds and more.
The guide is divided into four main sections: Hobbies, Clubs & Societies, Health & Wellbeing, Social Groups, Support Groups and Membership Clubs. Also included are contact numbers for key support services in Calderdale.
The WOW Guide can be picked up from supermarkets, libraries, GP surgeries, churches, community centres and sports clubs or from our office in Elland. If you would like more copies, you are welcome to call into our office or send an A5 or A4 size stamped addressed envelope to Home Instead, 14-16 Southgate, Elland HX5 0BX. You can also download a PDF copy from our website by clicking on the following link, Home Care in WOW Guide PDF | Home Instead
If you would like your group or activity to be featured in our next guide, due to be published in Autumn 2023, email [email protected]
The WOW guide is just one of the ways we support the older community in Calderdale. We also run workshops on Fraud Protection (scams), Living Well in Older Age and Dementia Awareness and every Christmas we partner with local primary schools to deliver handmade Christmas cards to the elderly.
