The Calderdale Companionship Care team, here to help every step of the way

Some older people experience extreme loneliness which can cause physical health to deteriorate. A companion is someone who visits every week to provide friendship and support. The Home Instead Calderdale Companionship Care service is available to older people or those with a physical or mental health disability and can help them regain an interest in a favourite hobby or pastime, reducing the impact of loneliness and providing much-needed respite for family. All our companions are carefully matched to the person, DBS checked and have their own transport including appropriate insurance. The Home Instead Calderdale Companionship service is available from just three hours per week and includes outings and trips.

Why Companionship Care may be right for you

Many of our companionship care clients ask us to accompany them on visits to local groups such as memory cafes, coffee mornings, friendship lunches and support groups for conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s or MS. Our Care Pro’s Taz and Linda look after Susan five days each week taking her out and about as she enjoys music and lively activities. They support her at each meeting, helping her to participate and make the most of the experience; as well as driving Susan door-to-door.

Tailored Companionship Care in Calderdale

Through publishing our popular What’s On Where Guide (WOW Guide) for older people we have developed relationships with many local groups serving the elderly in Calderdale which has helped our clients’ families and our Care Professionals to find those local activities which will benefit them such as seated exercise, dementia café’s and support groups. We also run a monthly companionship café at the Park Row Centre (formerly the Rest Centre) in Brighouse which two of our clients regularly attend with their carer. The café is warm and welcoming providing a range of games, activities and opportunities for people to chat and find friendship and joy.
