Elderly people can quickly become lonely and isolated, and so we take our clients out to groups and events including to Memory Lane Café at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in the centre of town, events at Christ Church Sowerby Bridge and the Foundry Street Community centre. From just two or three hours each week to 24-hour care, we provide consistent support and reassurance to clients and families across all areas of Sowerby Bridge.

We provide a daily companionship service to Paul who lives in the Sowerby Bridge area and is in the early stages of dementia, taking himout and about in the local community. He likes attending friendship groups for seniors including Memory Lane Café at St. Paul’s Methodist Church and our Care Professional, Mandy provides the warm, cheerful and caring support to enable him to leave the house and join in the group activities. We also take clients out shopping or for healthcare appointments at the Station Road Surgery orCalderdale Royal Infirmary and can also accompany them on outings or to meet friends and family.
Loneliness can have a serious effect on a person’s health and many people just want company and conversation. Home Instead aims to prevent social isolation by providing companionship to all our clients. Every year we publish a What’s On Where (WOW) Guide to Calderdale, to give elderly people in Sowerby Bridge and our care team a handy reference guide to groups, events and activities aimed at the older generation. The guide covers Halifax as well as all areas of Calderdale and used alongside our companionship service can help an elderly person stay active, engaged and happy.
