Meet our Director, Fahima Khatun
Being born and raised in East London, I have personally seen the increasing need for quality care for the elderly in our communities.
My desire to provide safe, effective and genuinely compassionate care to the vulnerable people in this area led me to establishing a Home Instead presence here.
In my capacity as Director and Registered Manager of Home Instead Canary Wharf, I have worked with healthcare specialists and social care experts since the beginning to identify the problems faced by the elderly and vulnerable residents in East London. This has also given me the opportunity to try to change the preconceptions and attitudes some people have towards ageing – that getting older doesn’t necessarily mean having to lose independence or moving into a care home.
I am also a Dementia Friends Champion and regularly deliver talks to the public in order to raise awareness of dementia and make our community more dementia friendly.
Hearing about my clients feeling safe and happy in their own homes, and seeing the improvements to their quality of life, continues to make each day incredibly rewarding and drives me to provide the very best service I can.

I became a Care Supervisor with Home Instead after having been a Care Professional for several months. My first-hand experience in providing help for the elderly has been invaluable in increasing my understanding of the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by the older and more vulnerable members of our society, and working with clients to provide them with the means to live independent lives in their own homes has been among the most fulfilling aspects of my role.
I have had a passion for working with vulnerable adults and the elderly since an early age, always seeking to make a meaningful difference to their lives. When I discovered Home Instead Canary Wharf and learned about their philosophy, I knew this was the organisation for me.
Working as Care Supervisor has been a role that I absolutely love, and I take pride in my work. At Home Instead, we give dignity, respect and independence to our clients and make it our mission to provide high-quality care that is tailored to the individual needs of each person.
