Celebrating Our Care Pro of the Year Finalists - Meet Louisa

As we prepare to announce our Care Professional of the Year, we’re proud to be sharing the stories of our three incredible finalists.

Let us introduce you to Louisa, Care Professional from Home Instead Beverley and Hull. Louisa has spent her life caring for others, inspired by the time spent with her great-grandma, who had dementia. That experience shaped her future, leading her to train as a mental health nurse and dedicate 30 years to the NHS.

Now Louisa has brought her expertise to Home Instead, focusing on hands-on dementia care. Louisa is all about building connections with her clients, including Jim. Jim is a former CEO who suffered a brain injury that left him with impaired speech and challenging behaviour. Louisa’s warmth and patience helped her gain Jim’s trust.

One of Louisa’s proudest moments was when she helped Jim with something as simple, yet important, as getting ready for the day. Jim had been resistant to showering, but Louisa approached the situation creatively and began speaking to Jim in terms he understood from his business days and before long, Jim regained his confidence. One day, Jim came downstairs dressed smartly for the first time in months.

Louisa is always looking for ways to learn and improve, by regularly using resources from the Alzheimer’s Society and completing our City & Guilds Dementia training, to ensure she’s always giving her best.

Louisa is a shining example of what it means to be part of Home Instead.

We can’t wait to celebrate all our Care Professional of the Year finalists.
