Volunteers Revitalize Dementia Sensory Garden with TLC

Our Dementia Sensory Garden recently received some much-needed TLC from local volunteers Phil Cooper & Susanne Howes. Their hard work and dedication have revitalised this special space, making it even more welcoming and therapeutic for our clients.

We are incredibly grateful for their efforts and support, which have brought new lease of life to the garden. This act of kindness underscores the strength of our community and our shared commitment to enhancing the well-being of those living with dementia.

Care Tips & Tricks to Keep Well this July

  • Stay Active and Engaged: Regular physical activity and social interaction are crucial for maintaining overall health and well-being. Encourage daily walks, join community groups, or engage in hobbies to keep both the body and mind active.
  • Prioritise Nutrition: A balanced diet is essential for healthy aging. Focus on incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains into meals. Staying hydrated is equally important, so ensure an adequate intake of fluids throughout the day.
  • Create a Safe Environment: Modify the living space to prevent falls and accidents. Simple changes like removing tripping hazards, installing grab bars in the bathroom, and ensuring good lighting can significantly enhance safety and independence at home.
  • Maintain Regular Health Check-Ups: Routine medical check-ups help in early detection and management of health issues. Encourage regular visits to healthcare providers and stay updated on vaccinations and screenings recommended for seniors.
  • Foster Emotional Well-being: Mental health is as important as physical health. Provide emotional support, encourage open communication, and seek professional help if needed.

Embracing Optimism and Insights into Ageing-

Introducing the New Ageing Index by Home Instead.

This quarterly study explores how individuals envision their later years, aiming to spark conversations about ageing and the role of quality home care. The findings reveal a strong optimism: 89% of those 75+ desire an active lifestyle, and 54% of adults anticipate lifespan and health span improvements in the next decade.

These insights help Home Instead tailor services to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of our clients. By understanding their preferences, we create personalised care plans that promote independence, positivity, and vitality. The New Ageing Index reaffirms our commitment to enhancing quality of life, ensuring elderly clients thrive and enjoy fulfilling lives at every stage of ageing.
