Home Instead proudly sponsors Chichester Festival Theatre Buddies - helping to make the magic of theatre accessible for all!
Ah, the theatre! The lights, the magic, the actors the stories – whether you tread the boards or frequent the seats, one thing is for sure: theatre provides a kind of magic unrivalled by any other medium. The immersive, communal experience is one that simultaneously transports us and bonds us.
We are incredibly lucky that in Chichester Festival Theatre we have a world-class theatre with an outstanding reputation for quality and variety on our doorstep! At Home Instead, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the theatre, but we recognise that for some people accessing these amazing shows can be prohibitive for a variety of reasons.
That’s why, when we heard about the amazing CFT Buddies scheme, we just had to get involved!
The Chichester Festival Theatre Buddies scheme was launched in 2017. with the aim of making this amazing venue and its world-class shows accessible for all! There are many reasons why people may find it difficult to attend the theatre alone – from physical disabilities to neurodiversity, anxiety or social isolation. The scheme provides buddies, volunteers who love the theatre and are committed to helping others embrace its delights, to provide companionship and support to those who may otherwise feel unable to enjoy the vast array of entertainment on offer.
When Home Instead Chichester’s owner, Simon Mcgee, learned of the scheme he was delighted to realise how closely the values of the CFT buddies aligned with his own, and with those of Home Instead itself. For the past two years, we have been the sole sponsor of the buddies scheme.
‘I’m really proud that Home Instead is able to support the Buddy Scheme at the Festival Theatre. We recognise that friendship, culture and sensory stimulation are all vital ingredients for a long and happy life and the CFT Buddy Scheme truly embodies our values and our mission at Home Instead.’ – Simon Mcgee
If you would like to find a buddy, or volunteer to become one you can find out more and apply on the Chichester Festival Theatre website:

Buddies are friendly, trained volunteers who love theatre. They can help with everything from collecting your tickets, helping you access the toilet facilities, purchasing refreshments and generally making sure you feel comfortable throughout your visit.
As a company whose core values of promoting independence and quality of life and reducing social isolation align so closely with those of the CFT buddies, we are immeasurably proud of the work they do. We’d like to say a massive well done to everyone involved with the scheme, we are inspired and amazed by you all!
