At Home Instead Cuffley, Cheshunt & Harlow, we love to create lasting memories with our local community.
We recently went along to Greenfields, a retirement living community in Cuffley, to host a 60’s sing along with tea and cakes for the residents. We brought along our very own in-house musician, Jordan Divers, and a fantastic member of his band to sing a selection of 60’s classics to the residents.
One of the residents came dressed as Elvis, so of course we couldn’t help but sing lots of Elvis classics, such as Blue Suede Shoes, and everyone had a boogie and lots of laughs. This was our second event at Greenfields so it was really lovely to see such big smiles on the familiar faces of the residents and an even larger turnout than our first visit!
Evidence shows that singing releases the “happy chemicals” such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins, which make you feel good and more confident. There is also evidence to show that singing can improve memory, concentration, and alertness.
With all these health benefits, it is no wonder we all left feeling energised and cheerful after this event. We have created a fantastic bond with the residents at Greenfields and hope to continue to do more events there, such as arts and crafts, hand pampering, and much more… stay tuned!
