Our new chapter at Home Instead Derby South
Home Instead Derby South has recently entered a new chapter under the leadership of our new owners, with a fabulous relaunch event at our offices. With extensive healthcare experience and a deep commitment to our community, this transition marks an important milestone as we continue to build on our strong reputation in South Derbyshire.
Our new owners are focused on maintaining the high standards Home Instead is known for, while also introducing fresh ideas to enhance our care and services. Day-to-day operations here are led by General Manager Laura and Care Manager Sally, who are both passionate about delivering the highest quality of care. Their warmth, expertise, and personal touch make them invaluable members of our team.
All of our team were particularly interested in the findings from the recent New Ageing Index by Home Instead UK, which revealed that 89% of those aged 75+ believe in maintaining an active lifestyle. This insight has inspired us even more to support our clients in living active, fulfilling lives as they age.
Memory Matters Cafe: Now meeting weekly in Moira
We’re excited to share that our Memory Matters Cafe, launched in July, is now a regular weekly gathering. Held at Moira Village Hall, in the village of Moira to the south of Derby and Swadlincote, every Tuesday from 11 am to 12 noon, the cafe is quickly becoming a great space for those living with dementia or Parkinson’s, as well as their carers.
Each week, you can enjoy a friendly welcome, a variety of activities, from creative crafts, to a game of bingo to light exercise. And, of course, no visit would be complete without a cuppa and a slice of cake. Do come along!

Our summer fun day in Swadlincote
This summer, we were thrilled to host our Fun Day on July 21st 2024 at The Wheel in Swadlincote. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit, as families gathered to enjoy pony rides, live music, crafts, and more. The event was also an opportunity to give back, as we raised money for the Alzheimer’s Society. The support from everyone made the day truly special, and we’re grateful to all those who joined us to celebrate summer and contribute to a worthy cause.
