You can ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ in Dudley and Sandwell! Join Home Instead Dudley’s campaign by picking up a gift tag at Tesco Extra Dudley.
At Home Instead Dudley, we’re excited to launch our annual ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ campaign, it’s an initiative designed to bring festive joy and a little bit of something special, to older people in our local community.
This year we are partnering with Tesco Extra Dudley, we’ll be running a festive donation drive that encourages Dudley’s residents to bring a little cheer to the elderly members of our community. This campaign is close to our hearts and brings together the spirit of generosity, community support, and intergenerational connection in a way that truly embodies the festive season.
We would love for you to get involved! Starting this November, we’ll have a Christmas tree set up at Tesco Extra Dudley, decorated with gift tags listing suggested gifts for local older adults. These tags include ideas for items that can brighten someone’s day, from cosy blankets to festive treats. Our Home Instead Dudley team members will be present at the donation point throughout November, saying hello to shoppers and helping them pick a gift tag if they would like to take part. Shoppers can purchase the suggested gift item and return it to our collection point, knowing that their thoughtfulness will make a positive difference in someone’s life this Christmas.
We’re thrilled to collaborate again this year with a local school in Netherton, where students are taking part in a special project to spread festive cheer. The students will be designing and creating Christmas cards to accompany the gifts, adding a personal touch that means so much to the recipients. These hand-made cards will not only bring joy but it’s also a lovely gift across the generations, showing older residents the thoughtfulness of Dudley’s younger community. It’s a lovely way to demonstrate that our local youth value and care for the older generation, and we know the cards will really bring a smile!
In a wonderful partnership with the Dudley Home Library Service, we’ll be distributing the donated gifts and handmade cards to those who may find it challenging to leave their homes. Many of these Dudley residents may not otherwise receive a gift or a visit over the festive season, and we will bring them a gift and a smile, to make them feel remembered and valued.
With the help of our Home Instead team and the wider community, we’re setting our sights on delivering more gifts than ever this year. Our team will be at the donation points throughout November, and later, we’ll come together to wrap each gift with care. For our team, this isn’t just a campaign, it’s a way to show compassion, respect, and love for our community’s older residents. By bringing together shoppers, students, and volunteers, we’re creating an opportunity for everyone to contribute to a worthy cause.
To keep the community updated and engaged, we’ll be sharing the progress of ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ on our social media channels, follow us at our Facebook Page or on Instagram. We’d love you to help spread awareness and participation by sharing our posts! Look out for festive photos of our team in holiday jumpers as they man the donation points, as well as updates on donations and stories from those receiving the gifts and cards. We hope it encourages even more people to get involved!
As the festive season approaches, we’d love for you to join us in making a difference to the lives of Dudley’s older community. Whether you pick up a gift tag and donate a gift at Tesco, follow our progress on social media, or share this idea with friends, every act of support helps us spread festive cheer to local people in our area who need it most.
