Travel through time and explore Dundee’s transport history
Dundee Museum of Transport showcases the city’s rich transport heritage, featuring everything from its tram network and railway history to maritime connections. The museum houses a diverse range of vehicles from local and national collections, including the famous Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Knowledgeable guides bring history to life, taking visitors through the engaging exhibition galleries.
The museum is a hidden gem in Dundee and a fun place for clients and their grandchildren to visit. The museum organises a scavenger hunt and children may enjoy entering some of the vehicles on display. We particularly enjoy bringing clients here as it can bring back fond memories of their youth and our Care Professionals enjoy learning about their early life and memories of their first cars.
The museum features a restaurant which is a perfect place to sit and have a cup of tea and chat about the exhibits together.
Embrace the beauty of nature
The University of Dundee Botanic Garden is a stunning 9.5-hectare garden overlooking the River Tay. With a diverse collection of indigenous British plants and flora from around the world, it’s a treat for nature-loving clients. Clients and Care Professionals can spend quality time together, exploring collections of trees, shrubs, tropical and temperate glasshouses, water and herb gardens, and more. The Botanic Garden is dedicated to science, conservation, and education, with over 80,000 visitors annually!
Visitors can also enjoy the on-site coffee shop, gift shop, and plant nursery. The Visitor Centre hosts regular art exhibitions and offers facilities for receptions and meetings.
One Care Professional said, “We could have spent the whole day here. There is so much to see and my client loved it. It’s lovely to see her smile so much.”
We appreciate there is plenty of picnic tables available outside and the entrance is wheelchair accessible too, allowing Care Professionals to park near the entrance and assist clients easily to the entrance.
Discover amazing animals in a family-friendly setting
Camberdown Wildlife Centre is located within the beautiful Camperdown Country Park, just 15 minutes from Dundee City Centre. The centre offers a fun family day out with a wide variety of animals, including rescued bears, wolves, and playful otters. The conservationists at the centre work tirelessly to care for the animals and maintain their habitats.
Recently, a Care Professional told us “We had a great time together and learned a lot from talking to the staff here. They are passionate about conservation and my clients love asking questions and seeing the otters especially.”
With facilities including a cafe and shop, the whole family can enjoy a memorable day out at Camperdown Wildlife Centre.
