We provide companionship care across Edgbaston, Harborne and Selly Oak, helping people stay connected and independent at home. Our Care Professionals spend at least an hour on each visit, giving them time to build genuine friendships with our clients. Many of our team have been with us for years and we try to always stick with a small team to visit each client. This continuity means our clients get to spend time with familiar faces they know and trust.

Our Care Professionals at Home Instead in Birmingham don’t wear uniforms, making trips to local cafés or walks in Cannon Hill Park feel more natural – like going out with a friend. We think carefully about matching personalities and interests, so visits might include sharing stories over a cup of tea, working on the crossword together, or enjoying a hobby you both love. We can offer a “concierge” service, to assist you in getting to your Queen Elizabeth Hospital appointment in Birmingham or even a family event in another city or country! It’s not just about companionship, but helping clients stay active and independent in ways that matter to them.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

“I am very happy with the service and find that I am feeling much better and more relaxed,” M.B. told us on homecare.co.uk. “The carer I have is very pleasant and we have lots in common like knitting.” We love hearing how these friendships develop. As Amanda F. shared: “All my girls are lovely and I can’t wish for any more from my girls, especially when taking me to do shopping and my fortnightly hair salon visits!”

Our Care Professionals come from all sorts of interesting backgrounds, and we train them to notice the little changes that might need attention – like changes in appetite or mobility. They’re fully employed and carefully chosen through thorough background checks and multiple professional references. Our friendly office team is always here to answer questions, adjust visit times, or chat about changing needs – it’s all part of making sure our clients get the right support.
Our close partnerships with the community and local organisations help us understand how companionship makes a real difference to people living with these conditions. The training we receive helps our Care Professionals better support clients to stay socially active and engaged. We put this knowledge into practice every day, creating meaningful connections that help our clients feel more confident and supported in their daily lives.
