Connecting with the Epping Forest Community

At Home Instead Epping Forest, we enjoy creating connections within our community because it allows us to build strong relationships, share valuable resources, and collaborate in ways that make a real difference to the lives of older adults and their families.

Recently, we were honoured to attend the Theydon Bois Women’s Institute’s monthly meeting at Theydon Bois Village Hall. With over 50 members in attendance, the event was a wonderful opportunity to share how our tailored, person-centred services and community events at Home Instead Epping Forest contribute to improving the lives of those we support.

Informative presentations

The meeting was hosted by our Community Relationship Manager, Maureen, and Debbie, our Head of Care Professional Experience. Together, they provided information about Home Instead’s mission and approach to home care services.

Maureen and Debbie explained how we carefully select, train, and support our Care Professionals to ensure they deliver exceptional care throughout the community. They also explained our thoughtful matching process, which pairs Care Professionals with clients who share similar interests. We believe this is a key element in building trust and creating meaningful relationships at Home Instead Epping Forest.

Debbie also took the opportunity to demonstrate essential skills such as CPR and the use of our innovative Raizer Lifting Chair. The group found the demonstrations interesting, with many sharing how these tools and skills could bring peace of mind to families who are caring for loved ones at home.

Sharing our impact

The Women’s Institute members enjoyed a visual presentation featuring photos of our community events held throughout 2024. Our events throughout Epping Forest are designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing and reduce social isolation amongst older adults. This is very important at Home Instead, as we aim to combat loneliness in our communities and encourage connections that enhance not only the lives of those we support but also the broader community as a whole.

Our display tables were also filled with helpful resources, including:

  • Leaflets covering our services and community offerings.
  • What’s On Where (WOW) Newsletters to keep everyone informed about local events and activities to take part in.
  • Scam Awareness Materials to help keep loved ones safe.

Members explored these materials, sharing stories, asking questions and becoming more engaged in local initiatives. It was great to see our resources spark these important conversations.

A successful event

The afternoon ended with a heartfelt speech from one of the Women’s Institute members, expressing their appreciation for the insights and practical demonstrations shared. It was great to connect with such an engaged and welcoming group.

We extend our gratitude to Penny, Chair Lady of the Theydon Bois Women’s Institute, for inviting us to this wonderful event. Maureen is already looking forward to arranging similar presentations with other Women’s Institutes in the future.
