Live-in Care with Home Instead

Live-in Care allows clients to maintain their preferred lifestyle within the comfort of their own homes.

What is Live-in Care?

Live-in Care involves the placement of carefully selected Care Professionals who reside in your home, providing continuous practical support and companionship. This service allows you to maintain your preferred lifestyle within the comfort of your own home, ensuring that you live life on your own terms.

Qualities of an Exceptional Live-in Care Professional

At Home Instead, we prioritise certain key characteristics when selecting our Live-in Care Professionals. We seek individuals who are empathetic, kind, calm, and adaptable. These qualities are essential in fostering a supportive environment where clients can maintain their independence. Our Care Professionals act as enablers, encouraging and assisting clients in performing tasks themselves, which is crucial for preserving their autonomy.

The essence of Live-in Care is to empower clients to remain as independent as possible within their own homes. By promoting independence and offering choices, we help our clients regain confidence in performing tasks and engaging in activities that may have become challenging over time.

We also recommend practical home modifications, such as the installation of handrails in areas where balance is an issue, such as in showers or on outdoor steps, and the use of stair lifts for easier access to upper floors.

Other essential traits in our Care Professionals include patience, respect, strong communication skills, reliability, practicality, and a good sense of humour – after all, a little laughter goes a long way.

Supporting Our Care Professionals and Clients

We are committed to providing ongoing support to both our Clients and their Live-in Care Professionals. Through regular home visits from the Care Management Team, we build a foundation of trust with our clients and Care Professionals. Our approach includes daily check-in calls with our Care Professionals to ensure they have the support they need and to address any issues that may arise.

For instance, during one recent visit, we identified that a new client was displaying subtle signs of sepsis. Due to the close proximity of our Live-in Care Professional, these changes were detected early, allowing us to act quickly. We immediately arranged for an ambulance, and the client was promptly admitted to the hospital. Thankfully, they made a full recovery and is now back at home, enjoying a healthy and happy life.

When establishing a care package, our home care consultants conduct multiple visits to thoroughly understand each client’s unique needs and lifestyle. They create comprehensive care plans that detail everything from preferred personal care products to styling preferences. These plans are regularly updated to reflect any changes in the client’s condition or preferences.

Indicators That You May Need Live-in Care

If you have a complex medical condition that requires additional assistance with daily activities, or if you find managing alone increasingly difficult but wish to remain in your own home, Live-in Care may be the solution. The benefits include companionship, help around the home, meal preparation, and the peace of mind that someone is always available to assist you.

For couples, Live-in Care often presents a more affordable alternative to residential care, allowing you to remain together in the home you cherish.
