Strengthening Community Ties

The benefits of these community gatherings extend far beyond the events themselves. They play a crucial role in reducing feelings of isolation and enhancing the quality of life for the older members of our community and those affected by dementia.

By regularly attending events like these, our clients can maintain their social networks, which are vital for mental health and emotional support.

They also offer carers a network of resources, sharing opportunities for support and respite care that might otherwise be overlooked.

What’s Coming Up

In March, Memory cafés will be celebrating Pancake Day and International Women’s Day with a quiz, they will also include other activities such as bring your own record to play on our record player, card making and pangoli patterns.

In April, we will be celebrating Easter, creating Easter cards, and making chicks and bunnies from pine cones. We will also be honouring William Wordsworth’s birthday by listening to poetry. Special easter refreshments will be provided.

Our Singing to Remember events for both months will be singing various well-known songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

In Fareham and Gosport, the spirit of community is strong, and these events are just a part of how the area supports its ageing population and wider community.
