Recognising the importance of social connections and ongoing engagement, we host free sessions at our Friendship and Memory Cafes in Lee-on-Solent and Wickham. These welcoming groups provide a safe space for individuals living with dementia—and their carers—to enjoy activities such as quizzes, indoor curling, and seated yoga, fostering community ties and shared experiences.
Music has a unique ability to evoke memories and enhance well-being for those living with dementia. Acknowledging this, we organise a ‘Singing to Remember’ group in Stubbington, offering therapeutic benefits and opportunities to connect through music.
The recently formed Memory Choir, in partnership with Dementia Friendly Fareham and Gosport and Dementia Friendly Hampshire, demonstrates our commitment to using music therapeutically. Choir members come together in song, connecting with the community and preparing for a heartwarming performance set for summer 2025.
Our Care Professionals are the skilled and compassionate individuals who provide in-home care, and are essential to our services. Each professional participates in Home Instead exclusive City and Guilds accredited dementia care programme, highlighting our unique capability to deliver exceptional training. This investment underscores our dedication to providing the highest standard of care.
Beyond our care services, we conduct dementia awareness presentations for various local community groups. Enhancing understanding and support is crucial for improving the daily lives of those living with dementia. By educating the wider community, we aim to foster an environment of empathy and support, enriching every interaction.
At Home Instead, our commitment extends beyond Dementia Action Week. From our bespoke approach to in-home care to our community activities, we remain dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults living with dementia in Fareham, Gosport, Lee-on-Solent, and surrounding areas.
