Join us at Home Instead as Lauren supports a local coat exchange held at Farnborough Library and learns more about the cause.
Lauren had a lovely time chatting with the staff at Farnborough Library, and she donated a few surplus coats to their Winter Coat Exchange while she was there.
According to a campaign by the national parent charity Parentkind, 150,000 children in the UK need a warm coat this winter. Arising number of adults, including the elderly, also need help. Coat exchange programs, charities and clothing banks are coming together to provide a space for the community to donate. Farnborough Library’s coat exchange is just one we have here locally.
Lauren shared, “The coat exchange is an important program. It provides a safe space for people to donate, swap, or pick up a warm winter coat before the temperatures drop. This is a really wonderful example of how strong our local community is and how we come together in times of need.”
She goes on to add, “If you need a coat or know someone who does, the exchange is a no-judgement space. It’s free to come take a look and try on coats if you want to. You can also take a coat completely free of charge. So please, if you need a warm winter coat this season and can’t quite manage it on a tight budget, come to the library and pick one.”
Farnborough Library launched its winter coat initiative in mid-October, but there is still plenty of time to donate. They are looking for gently used children’s and adult coats.
You can find more information with the team at Farnborough Library. Better yet, why not pay them a visit and see the coat exchange in action?
