Loneliness shouldn’t be part of growing older. Our companionship care brings friendly faces and meaningful connections to people across Derry/Londonderry. Every visit lasts at least an hour, giving our Care Professionals time to build genuine friendships – whether that’s sharing stories over tea, heading out for a walk or helping with the daily tasks at home that have become a bit more challenging over the years. Our lovely local Care Professionals come from all walks of life, but each has chosen care because they love making a difference to people’s lives. They’re carefully selected, fully employed by us, and thoroughly background-checked because trust matters when it comes to welcoming someone into your home.

Taking a more natural approach to care makes a real difference. Our Care Professionals don’t wear uniforms, making trips to local shops or community events feel relaxed and comfortable – more like being with a friend or member of the family than a carer. They’re trained to support independence by doing things with you rather than for you – whether that’s preparing a favourite recipe together or heading out for fresh air in the local area. This approach helps spot early signs that might need attention, giving loved ones valuable peace of mind while maintaining dignity and independence.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

We take the time to make sure all our local Care Professionals are well-trained and well-supported. Local brothers Garth and Mark, our owner and manager, invest heavily in training, celebrate work anniversaries, and offer the highest level of support to our Care Professionals. Our office team, led by Registered Manager Emma, who has many years of care experience, provides a listening ear to explain the options for clients and their families. We’re always ready to adjust schedules, answer questions, or offer guidance as a loved one’s care needs change. Our City & Guilds Assured training, which is unique to Home instead, ensures every Care Professional can offer support for complex care needs.
Throughout this year, we’re strengthening our community connections with regular Wellbeing Workshops and Digital Skills for Seniors sessions in Derry/Londonderry. Our Fall Prevention Workshops and Scam Awareness Talks help local residents stay safe and independent, while our planned chair exercise classes bring people together. Working alongside local healthcare teams, we’re committed to creating a supportive network that extends beyond individual care visits.
