Home Instead Senior Care celebrates exceptional 18th ‘outstanding’

Home Instead Senior Care South Devon are the 18th Home Instead franchise to receive an Outstanding rating, the highest rating possible from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Peter and Mercedes Hughes, owners, opened their franchise office just two years ago, making this a truly impressive achievement.

After experiencing poor care first hand, they were determined that “there had to be a better way”. After hearing about Home Instead Senior Care, Peter and Mercedes were so impressed with our unique approach to care and set up an office serving the Torbay area. Together, they share a passion for providing quality care to their local area and do so with great help from their team of 55.

Commenting on the outstanding rating, Peter said, “Setting up a business is a big step and we are immensely proud that in two years our service has been deemed to be outstanding by our industry’s regulator.

“It is our desire to make a difference to people’s lives, allowing them to remain in their own homes should they choose to. Our clients tell us how important it is to stay in their own homes and from my own family’s experience, I understand the value of this independence.

“The service we deliver would not be possible without our caring and compassionate team of caregivers who love their work and are doing so much to enrich the lives of our clients. Mercedes and I would like to thank each and every one of them for what they do.”

Outstanding Feedback

During a CQC inspection, the views of a company’s caregivers, clients and clients’ families are sought as well as those of local health and social care professionals.

Only 2% of home care providers inspected have been awarded the coveted ‘outstanding’ rating.

A client told inspectors, “They are friends. They are human. They are lovely.” Another client who enjoyed regular outings with their caregivers said, “They are my friends. We go places.”

The company’s innovative and genuinely caring approach shines through with inspectors writing, ‘There was a strong emphasis on providing care with compassion, respect and dignity.’

A Company That Cares

Speaking about the decision to become a Home Instead Senior Care franchisee, Peter said: “It was Home Instead’s ethos that first attracted us to the brand and we wanted to be part of it. Two years on and we have been recognised as an outstanding provider – to say that we are thrilled is an understatement.

“What we have achieved has been made possible because everyone involved with the Home Instead brand has a clear direction. We all share a desire to make a difference to people’s lives.

“The Home Instead ethos informs everything that we do. It makes us strong as a brand and allows us to provide care which, in the eyes of our sector’s regulator, is outstanding.”

Part of a national network of over 190 offices, Home Instead is firmly established as the leading home care provider for the elderly. The company’s innovative care model achieved national recognition last year when it received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Home Instead Senior Care has 120 territories available across the UK and well as 7 territory resales.
