Home Instead’s New Ageing Index: Changing Attitudes Towards Ageing

Recent research from Home Instead’s New Ageing Index reveals shifting attitudes towards ageing, showing that many of us believe living an active life is achievable, even in our later years.

According to the research, an average 85% agree with the need to stay active, and this rises to 89% among over 75s. 66% of older respondents see diet and exercise as crucial to maintaining youthfulness. This belief is even stronger among those caring for older loved ones, with 76% in agreement.

Advances in medical science have also bolstered optimism about ageing. The New Ageing Index indicates that 54% of respondents are hopeful about significant improvements in both lifespan and healthspan over the next decade, a sentiment shared by 67% of those over 75.
