Ever wonder what it’s like to be an Office Administrator at Home Instead? We caught up with Leah C, our new Office Administrator here at Home Instead Ilkley, and here’s what she had to say about her role, inspiration, and a bit more about herself.

As the Office Administrator, Leah’s day revolves around ensuring that everything is running smoothly for clients. “I start my day off with a cup of coffee, debriefing the previous night’s on-call notes with the team, and planning ahead,” she says.

But there’s much more to it than just checking off tasks. “I audit each client’s visit notes daily. It’s about making sure everything is going well and flagging any issues to the rest of the team, so we can address them as soon as possible.” It’s clear that attention to detail is crucial for this role.

So what drew Leah to Home Instead Ilkley? “I’m a caring and compassionate individual,” she shares. “The idea of making positive changes to people’s lives was something I couldn’t pass up.”

When she’s not immersed in her responsibilities at work, she enjoys taking time for herself. “My ideal self-care day would be a long walk with my dog, followed by a warm bubble bath”…We can practically feel the relaxation just imagining it!

And when it comes to career highlights, there’s one moment that stands out. “Seeing our lovely client Nancy on her 98th birthday to deliver some flowers—it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.”
Of course, like all of us, Leah has her own way of unwinding. “I love putting on my favourite vanilla-scented candle and getting lost in a good book.”

We were curious to know what superpower she’d choose if she could have one. Without hesitation, she answered, “Super memory. That way, when I receive calls about clients, I’d always remember how their routine goes and help as much as I can.”

So, what are the three things she can’t live without at work? “Coffee, my notebook by my side when the phone rings, and of course, the rest of the team!” Teamwork is clearly something she values highly.
Before wrapping up, we asked for the best piece of advice she’s ever been given. “Be patient and calm. In this career, you work with various types of people and clients. Staying positive is key.”

And just for fun, we asked who she’d choose to spend a care day with if she could choose anyone—real or fictional. Her answer? Eeyore from Winnie The Pooh! “He struggles with everyday tasks due to his depression, and I think he’d benefit from a care day. It’d be wonderful to see him grow to love companionship.”
