5 minutes with Joanne - Care Professional

Our wonderful Care Professional Joanne is due to celebrate her first year anniversary with us. Here she tells us what prompted her to apply for the role.

How did you hear about Home Instead?

I heard about Home Instead from a social media post I read.

What prompted you to apply for the role?

I was prompted to apply for the role of a Care Professional for many reasons, but some are that the visits are a minimum of 1 hour, which over time, allows us to get to know the clients we care for and how best we can help them.

What were you doing before joining Home Instead?

Before I joined Home Instead, I was a Coastguard which I still do in my spare time. I have also worked a Prison Officer and have previous care experience.

What do you like to do in your spare time and are you able to bring that into your role?

In my spare time, I like to listen to music and do art, and I have a good sense of humour.

I am an approachable person with many skills which I bring to Home Instead.

What do you enjoy most about the role?

I love my role as a Care Professional as I like to help our clients and bring a smile to their faces.

What do you think the benefits are of the role for both you and the client?

I think it is important that Care Professionals and clients get to know one another with regular visits.

What activities do you do with your clients?

I do many different activities with clients, e.g. reading, art, music and dancing and talking and discussing news.

What would you say to anyone who is thinking about a role in care?

I would highly recommend anyone wishing to join Home Instead as a Care Professional as the training is very good with regular training updates, and the staff are all helpful and friendly.

We all work as part of a team, which is important, and should you need help or advice, someone is always just a phone call away.
