5 minutes with Our Care Professional Sam

When Sam popped into the office this week, we managed to nab her for a catch up. She was only too happy to tell us what made her apply for the role of Care Professional.

How did you hear about Home Instead and what prompted you to apply for the role?

“I saw an advert on Facebook but I did already know someone who worked within the company and was very content in their role. I was pleased to find a company that shared my values.”

What were you doing before joining Home Instead?

“I worked in a preschool but before that, I was a Hairdresser.”

What do you like to do in your spare time and are you able to bring that into your role?

“I don’t have a lot of spare time so to speak but when I get some down rime I like to spend it with my family.”

What do you enjoy most about the role?

“Meeting new people and their families. I like to encourage our clients to do the things that they don’t think they can. It’s a great sense of achievement when we are able to support them to continue to do the things they enjoy.”

What do you think the benefits are of the hourly role for both you and the client?

“Not rushing them. We are able to listen to their needs and have the time to get to know them better.”

What activities do you do with your clients?

“I have clients who require more support with attending appointments etc, so mostly we are going out and about.”

What would you say to anyone who is thinking about a role in care?

“DO IT! It’s a brilliant and very rewarding job. I love the feeling of leaving a client smiling, particularly a client who insists that they don’t really need you there!”
