Lighting up the Palm House for Alzheimer's

Home Instead South Liverpool partnered with the iconic Palm House in Sefton Park to commemorate World Alzheimer’s Day on Saturday, by illuminating the building in purple.

This symbolic gesture is intended to serve as a visual reminder of the need to support those affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

As a CQC Outstanding-rated care provider, the cause holds special significance for Home Instead. Rebecca Bradley, Group General Manager, noted that dementia is a deeply personal issue for the company, as their dedicated care professionals witness its impact daily, working closely with clients and their families. “Home Instead South Liverpool offer’s all of our care professionals specialist dementia training through a specially accredited City & Guilds programme, equipping them with the skills to offer compassionate, personalised care to those living with Alzheimer’s in the comfort of their own homes.”

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Liverpool Palm House to help raise awareness of this condition,” said Rebecca. “Our care professionals see the effects of dementia firsthand and provide personalised care to clients, using tailored approaches to help them manage it. We care deeply for our clients and are committed to raising awareness of dementia and Alzheimer’s to help people live fulfilling lives.”

She added, “We hope that by lighting up this beautiful building, it will encourage visitors to the park to think about those living with Alzheimer’s and their carers. It’s important to remember that support is available, and to seek out additional resources and explore care options if they or a loved one are affected.”

According to the World Alzheimer’s Society, around 982,000 people in the UK are currently living with dementia, a number expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040.

The Palm House frequently hosts events for those living with dementia and their carers, working closely with the Liverpool Dementia Action Alliance to promote awareness and make Liverpool a dementia-friendly city. Their next event will take place next Tuesday 24 September between 2pm and 4pm and Home Instead will be there with a dedicated Dementia Stand to offer advice.
