We have a strong focus here at Home Instead on supporting those living with dementia. The majority of our team have undergone the City and Guilds accreditation in dementia care and some of our team have created Life Journals with our clients. Beautiful memory books with thoughts and photos to spark memories and conversations. Our clients love creating them and we highlight the importance of keeping loved ones mentally active and involved in social activities, which many shy away from.
Guests will also receive a free 12 page booklet to take home that details practical tips for around the home, such as to do lists, as well as ensuring home is a safe place, such as reducing clutter which may cause falls. And a focus on healthy eating and meal encouragement.
Home Instead’s focus on supporting those with dementia leads to a You Tube page, featuring conversations with loved ones about their personal experiences as well as conversations with people living with dementia gaining a real insight on life and coping mechanisms. It’s a useful tool for gaining insight into dementia. https://www.youtube.com/user/homeinsteaduk
Discovering a loved one had dementia and moving forward can be stressful and challenging for families. Dementia care is about understanding the condition and the many symptoms that can occur. Each person with dementia will have their own unique experiences and challenges. After 15 years supporting local people and their families, we want to share this knowledge to help support people living with the disease, their loved ones and the community they live in.
Spaces are limited, and all are welcome. To book a place, call 01628 299097.
