A Memory Cafe is an inclusive group that welcomes people living with dementia or memory issues, along with their friends, family, carers, and others in our community who may benefit from attending. Our cafe in Yalding, Maidstone provides a safe and relaxed environment with refreshments available to purchase, activities, guest speakers, and peer support. We also offer access to relevant information from local statutory agencies.
Memory loss can result from a variety of conditions. Whatever the cause, we invite you to join us. We hope to see you there, enjoying a cup of coffee, a slice of cake and company!
This year’s Dementia Action Week focused on the theme of getting a diagnosis, highlighting that knowledge leads to empowerment. The Alzheimer’s Society has revealed a concerning statistic: 1 in 3 people in the UK living with dementia do not have a diagnosis. An early diagnosis is crucial as it allows for earlier access to appropriate support and care for both those living with the condition and their family caregivers.
At Home Instead Maidstone, we provide specialist dementia home care, alongside specialist training to our Care Professionals, ensuring we can deliver care to each client with skill, knowledge and compassion.
Creating a supportive community environment is essential and working in the community is important to us. Our Memory Cafe in Yalding aims to bring connections, offer peer support, and provide valuable resources to those affected by dementia. By raising awareness and encouraging community involvement, we can help improve the lives of those living with dementia and their families.
