We provide companionship visits to older adults throughout Medway, Rochester, Gillingham, Rainham, Walderslade, Higham, and Shorne. From our Chatham High Street office, we arrange visits that last at least an hour, giving time for meaningful activities and conversation. Our Care Professionals don’t wear uniforms – instead, they visit as themselves, helping to build relationships that feel more like a friend or family member. As your local CQC-regulated provider, rated 9.9/10 on homecare.co.uk, we understand that good care starts with taking time to get to know each client’s needs personally.

Companionship visits might include sharing interests like gardening, helping with crosswords, reading together, or supporting you to stay active in your community. Our team can help with practical tasks too – whether that’s assistance with opening the post, taking the bins out, or preparing a nutritious lunch together. As one client’s daughter told us: “Dad needed help with taking his medication on time and help in the house after becoming a widow. The Home Instead team have been very helpful and kind and gentle with Dad while he adjusts to being looked after.”
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

We know welcoming someone new into your home isn’t always easy. That’s why we arrange for you to meet your Care Professional before visits begin – something our clients find particularly reassuring. As one family member shared on homecare.co.uk: “It was arranged for my dad to meet the carer who would be coming before the start of care which reassured him. Care began less than 24 hours after my initial contact.” Our team of 25 Care Professionals means we can carefully match you with someone who shares your interests.

Led by director Henry’s NHS experience and Registered Manager Karina’s leadership, every Care Professional completes comprehensive City & Guilds training. When you call our office, you’ll speak to someone who knows your Care Professional by name and understands your situation. As one client’s daughter noted: “The Home Instead manager cannot be faulted, she is available 24/7 and has been so helpful.” This personal approach means we can respond quickly if you need to adjust your support.
Beyond individual visits, we’re actively working to support Medway’s older community. Our digital awareness workshops help people develop confidence with technology while learning to spot and avoid online scams. Through monthly ‘Key to Care’ events, we share information about living well with conditions like dementia, MS and Parkinson’s, bringing in specialists from organisations like the MS Society. Working alongside the Walderslade Active Retirement Association, we help ensure older adults have access to the information and support they need to stay safe and independent at home.
