Forget Me Not Chorus Comes to St Austell

FMNC provide a afternoon of joy, song tea and cake for people living with and alongside Dementia.

Lovely First Session with the FMNC

The Forget me Not Chorus

We’re delighted that the Forget Me Not Chorus has come to St Austell In Cornwall. The first session in May was a huge success with 25 new members joining in for an afternoon of joy, song, tea and cake. The Home Instead office in Wales had told us of the amazing work this group do with their community choirs. The FMNC has continued throughout the summer and we have enjoyed attending with our clients. They are looking forward to the Sharing event Saturday 14th September and the remaining sessions this year.

It is so important for people living with dementia and alongside in Cornwall to carry on enjoying life and participating in community activities. Singing together is a lovely thing to do and helps foster a sense of worth and enriches the lives of people participating in it. It’s a great way to meet new and old friends as well!

Our First Day With the FMNC

One of Care Professionals Ros sent this account of her first day earlier in the year with a lovely lady we are privileged to help care for. She is still singing in FMNC and very much looking forward to the sharing event this week on the 14th September.

On a cloudy Saturday afternoon we were met by the Forget-me-not Chorus.

The Leader and helpers greeted us with a lovely welcome.

The lead singer had a beautiful voice and encouraged everyone to participate with hand actions and joining in singing.

We were encouraged to imagine :-

Walking and wandering along a path, to feel free, to be able to sing, to express one-self singing, with every-one singing together…

We finished the day having a cup of tea/coffee with biscuits and meeting new people.

When the session ended we left with a big happy smile 😊 making a brighter day.

Home Instead Care

At Home Instead we offer far more than the traditional domiciliary care service. We properly support the social and emotional needs of the people we are privileged to look after. This is in many ways. These include longer visits enabling time for a cup of tea and a chat, meaningful and enjoyable activities and trips out. Ours is a high quality, relationship based service covering Mid Cornwall which is fully managed by our lovely office team in St Austell, Bodmin and Wadebridge.
