A Month of Growth, Gratitude, and Giving Back

At Home Instead Mid Cornwall, we are always striving to provide the highest standard of care, and this month has been a busy one!

A Successful Annual Audit

We recently had our annual audit with Rachel from the National Office. These audits help us prepare for CQC inspections and ensure that the quality of care we provide remains exceptional. We’re thrilled to share that our auditor was very complimentary about our training, care planning, and administrative processes. Her feedback reassured us that our care truly reflects our mission, and she also provided valuable insights on how we can continue to improve.

Ours is a people business but we also were interested in hearing of some of the innovations coming soon with AI helping to streamline some of our internal processes enabling us to focus even more on quality of care and care professional experience.

Fantastic Reviews from Homecare.co.uk

We were delighted to receive three glowing reviews on Homecare.co.uk this month! This trusted platform verifies all reviews, making it a great resource for families searching for quality care or professionals seeking a career in the care sector. A huge thank you to those who took the time to share their experiences!

“Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) provided reliable, caring support that enabled my brother to live as independently as possible for as long as possible. From the beginning his needs were accurately assessed and the review gave him the confidence to say what he needed rather than forcing suggestions on him. New caregivers were always introduced so that he knew who was coming on a particular day and every carer took the time to talk to him, showing an interest in his stories and what he was doing. I recommend Home Instead (Mid Cornwall) without reservation.”

Farewell to a Valued Team Member

This month, we said goodbye to Abby, a dedicated care professional who has been part of our team for over three years. While we will all miss her, especially our clients, we wish her the very best in her well-earned retirement. Fortunately, Abby recommended a fantastic replacement who has already completed training and begun shadowing visits. Additionally, three new care professionals joined us in February, and we expect two more to be fully trained and ready to support clients by the end of March.

This has been our best start to the year in Recruitment since before the covid pandemic so we are delighted to be able to grow our team and provide more care for our clients in Cornwall.

We have Care Professional positions available in Fowey, St Austell, Bodmin and Wadebridge so please do get in touch if you are interested in learning more. Join the team | Home Instead Mid Cornwall

Supporting Our Community in Fowey

We are proud to have sponsored a bench at Squires Field in Fowey as part of a project led by Rhianna, Alan Harris and Fowey Town Council. A pump track and Multi Use Games Area  have been installed and the children’s playground has been renovated. On the field, paths have been created and there is a program to plant trees underway.

Over the years, many of the people we have supported have attended the Memory Café at Squires Field, and this initiative helps to make this community space even more welcoming. Our clients will be unlikely to be using the new pump track (you never know!), we know they will appreciate the peaceful walks, shaded benches, and the newly opened Pavilion House Library.

Sharing Our Knowledge with Students

At Home Instead Mid Cornwall, we are passionate about sharing our expertise with the next generation of care professionals. Recently, our Director and Recruiter, Patrick, visited Truro College to speak with students about the meaningful work we do in home care.

During his talk, Patrick highlighted how we support individuals living with dementia , offering an inside look at the realities of home care and the profound impact compassionate support can have on someone’s life.

The Admiral service were there, Paul Cadger spoke about the different roles within Physio and it was great to chat to Dr Vikki Brown afterwards about how we can help prevent dementia with lifestyle changes. It’s never to early to start, but the good news is it is never too late to start either!

Our model of care was specifically developed with dementia support in mind. With a minimum visit time of one hour, carefully planned introductions between clients and Care Professionals, and ongoing support from our office team, we ensure the highest quality of care. Unlike traditional care providers, we don’t wear uniforms, as these can sometimes create a barrier to building trust and familiarity. Instead, we focus on helping people maintain their independence in a way that is comfortable and dignified.

By engaging with students and future professionals, we hope to inspire a new generation to see caregiving as a fulfilling and essential career.

We are so grateful for our dedicated team, our wonderful clients, and our supportive community. If you’re interested in joining us or learning more about our services, feel free to reach out—we’d love to hear from you!
