Guide to memory cafes in St Austell Bay, Bodmin and Wadebridge
The Cornish Memory Cafes are a fabulous resource in Cornwall helping people living with Dementia and their families with advice but also activities, companionship tea, coffee and cake. Run by volunteers they are free although it can help to make a small donation. Each has a different approach and many people will go to several a month as they avoid overlapping times.
Cornish memory cafes offer stimulating and enjoyable activities in a safe environment such as arts and crafts, music, quizzes. These are known to help maintain cognitive function but most of all are a fun way to spend the afternoon. With Dementia, people can very easily become isolated and lose the social interaction that as humans we all need.
The Memory cafes around St Austell, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Fowey can be a way of meeting health professionals able to offer advice and support or signpost to local groups such as Memory Matters or the Forget-me-not Chorus
