Our care can be anything from a cup of tea and a chat, to trips out and about in the local area; take in the sights at Lanhydrock, a gentle amble through the Cardinham Woods, or just a pop into the town centre, with some caring company for full peace of mind.
As needs change over time we can also provide more specialist services, such as dementia care or support with washing and dressing. We ask ” What does or would a good day look like? ” and help a person achieve this rather than just focussing on medical needs or frailties.
“They listen to Mum’s needs, spot the changes that may mean practical readjustments and help work through managing any changes calmly and empathetically. Because of this support, Mum is able to continue to live independently and very happily in Cornwall where she grew up.
How is Home Instead Care in Bodmin different?
- 1-hour minimum visit length giving time to care.
- All Care Professionals are fully introduced to the people they are looking after, with shadow visits being used where needed
- Our Office team coordinate between clients, their families, the Care Professionals, health professionals and representatives (LPOAs and friends)
- Care plans & notes available on a portal for review by a named person provided the client gives consent
- Training and Development for Care Professionals to improve skills in Dementia, Frailty, Parkinson’s and Palliative Care At Home | Home Instead
- We can also support with shopping, gardening and other regular household tasks
- Fully employed and supervised team of Care Professionals, no agency workers
- Proper supportive supervision and management for the Care Professional team.
- We always ensure there is at least a 15 minute (paid) gap between scheduled visits so that Care Professionals can travel between clients without rushing
- Detailed care planning which is focused on strengths rather than frailties, and based around the individual’s needs or wants
- We’re big believers in “the mum test” – we only recruit caring and compassionate people who we would be happy to have to look after our own mums and dads
Providing Quality Care in Bodmin
Our Care Professionals covering Bodmin include Julie, who loves taking in the hits both old and new at the Capitol Cinema, Margaret, who spends time cycling the Camel Trail on free days with her two cocker spaniels, and Davina, who can usually be found doing far too many laps of the pool in the leisure centre.

Duties have included; chores around the home, assisting in computer communication with family members, shopping expeditions and hospital appointments. Of huge importance, the service has provided warm and understanding human companionship, invaluable in sustaining independent living.”
We charge a set monthly fee depending on the weekly hours needed. This includes everything – Care Professional time, travel, training, introductions, support from the office. The only extras would be specific expenses incurred for the client e.g. shopping which are passed on at cost. Mileage with the client or for a client (to collect a prescription for example) is charged at 45p.
Visits typically range from 4 hours a week to 1 – 3 hours a day. We can also do longer visits though if needed as well as taking people for trips out.
