High quality, premium care for older people in Fowey

At Home Instead we provide premium, relationship led homecare for older people in their own homes in Fowey, Golant and Lostwithiel. Our high quality, fully managed care service enables people to carry on enjoying their lives as independently as possible in their own homes.

Our care can be anything from a cup of tea and a chat, to trips out and as needs rise we can provide more specialist dementia care and/or help with washing and dressing. We ask ” What does or would a good day look like? ” and help a person achieve this rather than just focussing on medical needs or frailties.

How is Home Instead in Fowey different?

• 1-hour minimum visit length. If Booked for an hour, we are there for 60 minutes and never clip visits short to allow travel to the next call.
• All Care Professionals fully introduced to the people they are looking after, and shadow visits organised where needed.
• Office team carefully coordinate between clients, their families, the caregivers, health professionals and representatives (LPOAs and friends)
• Care plans & notes available on a portal for family members if consent given by the client.
• Excellent Training and Development for Caregivers to improve skills.
• Care Professional team fully employed and extensively checked on recruitment.
• Proper supportive supervision and management for the Care Professional team.
• 15 minute or more gaps between visits scheduled and paid so Care Professionals have time to travel without rushing.
• Detailed strengths based care planning based on a persons wishes and needs
• The ‘mum test’ – we only recruit caring compassionate people we would be happy to look after our own mums and dads.

We charge a set monthly fee depending on the weekly hours needed. This includes everything – Caregiver time, travel, training, introductions, support from the office. The only extras would be specific expenses incurred for the client e.g. shopping which are passed on at cost. Mileage with the client or for a client (to collect a prescription for example) is charged at 45p.

Visits typically range from 4 hours a week to 1 – 3 hours a day. We can do longer visits though if needed and often take people for trips out. Quality homecare can be more effective and good value for the right person, or couple compared to a residential home.

Overlooking the beautiful harbour, the town of Fowey is a wonderful place to live. In the summer the town is filled with visitors and events such as Fowey Royal Regatta. The Fowey River fleet of wooden boats can be seen with their pretty, colourful sails bobbing about with the elegant Troys in Fowey Harbour. In May we have the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature. The Winter months are setting in now but we still have events with the Fowey Christmas Market on 22nd to 24th November and Fowey Food week in January.

The Community Centre at Squires Field have a memory cafe meeting on alternate Thursdays from 2 – 4 pm and lots of other senior friendly activities. We were delighted to hear Squire Field Community Centre in Fowey won the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in November 2024. This is a fantastic recognition of the valuable work they do, and have done for years, to support the community in Fowey
