Learning about the challenges that come with old age, such as dementia and navigating the care system, doesn’t have to be a minefield, thanks to a series of support sessions by Age UK Norwich and local home care company Home Instead Norwich.
The new ‘Key To Care’ sessions will launch in June and support people with ageing loved ones, giving guidance on how to help older relatives and pointing families in the direction of local organisations that will alleviate challenges they’re facing.
Accessing direct payments, arranging power of attorney, knowing the best kind of care for your loved one: your head is full of questions when the time comes to get support. Even healthcare professionals might not be able to give you the full story, and all the information you need might be scattered across various organisations. The Key To Care sessions will bring all of this information together and offer both Age UK and Home Instead’s valuable insight, local knowledge and connections.
Chris Carter, owner of Home Instead Norwich, says: “Sadly, old age is a taboo subject for many, so when the time comes to address the difficulties that can come with it, many of us don’t know what to do. Maybe you have a loved one who’s health has declined rapidly? Or perhaps you simply want to be prepared for what may lie ahead? Our Key To Care sessions will reassure you that you aren’t alone in whatever challenges you face, and guide you through what to do next.
“I’m delighted to host Age UK Norwich at the sessions. They are the UK’s leading charity for older people and have a wealth of information that will help so many.”
