Meet Steve - from Sales career to Community Relationship Lead at Home Instead Nottingham - we’re delighted he’s joined our team.
Hi, My name’s Katie and I’m the Recruiter here at Home Instead Nottingham, we have a fabulous team here, we value every member and the unique stories they bring. Today, I’d like to celebrate my colleague Steve!
Steve’s journey to Home Instead Nottingham
With a career in the world of sales, Steve’s path took an empathetic turn. His own experience of caregiving happened almost by chance, when the pandemic meant he could not do his sales job, he began assisting his dad with daily tasks around the house and over time became a full-time family caregiver. The time spent caring for his father was a precious opportunity for Steve to forge a deep connection with his dad—a privilege he never experienced growing up.
Tragically, Steve’s father passed away towards the end of 2022, leaving a void and Steve at a crossroads in his life. The question was: should he return to his sales career or steer his path towards the care industry? Thanks to a heartfelt conversation over coffee with a close friend who’s part of our Home Instead family, Steve chose the latter, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his decision.
Always going the extra mile
With his natural warmth and people skills developed from his background in sales, it didn’t take long for Steve to work with us as a Care Professional and then be promoted to the role of Community Relationship Lead in under a year. He’s out and about daily, you might see him locally visiting community and day centres, explaining and advocating for the home care services we proudly provide at Home Instead.
Always willing to lend a hand, Steve is valued at our social events including our Care Professional Coffee mornings, lending his support to fundraising efforts and increasing awareness for good causes. Steve goes above and beyond for his colleagues and our clients. He is a true Home Instead Care Professional and we’re so happy to have him as part of our team in Nottingham.
His story is testament to how changing career paths can lead to finding a rewarding calling in life, especially when it involves caring for others. Thank you Steve!
