Join Home Instead Nottingham’s 2024 “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign, bringing festive cheer to local older adults. Find out how you can make a difference this Christmas.
As we start to step into the festive season, Home Instead Nottingham is thrilled to launch this year’s “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign for 2024, aimed at bringing a little extra Christmas joy to older adults in our community.
Did you know that 11.6% of Nottingham residents are aged over 65 according to the latest census data from Nottingham Insight. We’re inviting Nottingham residents to join us in spreading cheer to our older adults and those seniors who might be spending Christmas alone.
Our “Be a Santa to a Senior” initiative is an opportunity to help brighten the holiday for older adults across our city, ensuring they feel thought of, valued, and connected. This Christmas, let’s come together to make a difference in Nottingham, bringing joy and festive cheer to our older community members.
“Be a Santa to a Senior” is a campaign dedicated to ensuring that no older adult feels forgotten during the festive season.
This year, our team at Home Instead Nottingham is bringing the spirit of the campaign into the heart of the community by setting up special Christmas trees around the city, including in local suburbs. Each tree will be decorated with baubles, each listing a gift idea for both men and women. It’s an easy yet meaningful way to reach out and show care.
Simply select a bauble from one of our trees, purchase the gift idea, and drop it off at one of our collection points. Our team will then wrap each item and deliver it to an older person in Nottingham, bringing festive cheer to those who might be spending this season alone.
Participating in this year’s “Be a Santa to a Senior” is as easy as picking a bauble! We’ll have trees placed in special locations across Nottingham, making it simple for you to select a gift idea.
Popular choices include:
– Cosy winter essentials like scarves, hats, and gloves
– Festive treats such as chocolates or biscuits
– Small gift sets or toiletries
– Books, puzzles, or crosswords
Once you’ve picked a bauble, purchase the gift and drop it off at one of our nearby collection points or local offices. Our team will take care of wrapping and delivering each item with care. For those unable to buy a gift in person, financial donations are also welcome, which our team will use to purchase additional items
For many older adults, receiving a simple, thoughtful gift can make a world of difference, especially if they live alone. A gift given through “Be a Santa to a Senior” is more than just an item – it’s a reminder of connection, care, and community support. In previous years, we’ve seen just how much joy this initiative brings, with many recipients expressing how touched they felt by the kindness shown to them.
At Home Instead Nottingham, we are committed to providing high-quality home care, but our dedication to supporting older adults goes beyond our services. This festive season, we’re calling on the community to join us in making Christmas special for those who may be spending it alone. Together, we can bring warmth, smiles, and heartfelt moments to older adults in our local areas.
Keep an eye out for our community Christmas trees in your local area and for updates on our Home Instead Nottingham Facebook page – and consider taking part in this year’s “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign. Your kindness and generosity can make a local person’s Christmas extra special.
