As we head towards this year’s Dementia Action Week 13-19 May 2024, Home Instead Nottingham is at the forefront, championing initiatives that foster deeper empathy and concrete support for individuals living with dementia. Katie, our recruiter gave us an update on what will be happening this year and some of the activities and training that happens throughout the year.
We’ll mark the week with a fundraising Coffee Morning held at our local office at The Lookout NG7 on May 15 from 10 am until 3 pm, our team at Home Instead Nottingham intends to invite the local Home Instead offices in our region to come along. It will be a chance to gather, enjoy company and share our joint mission to propel the conversation around dementia into the limelight. We’ll have various interactive activities designed to help others understand the lived experience of those with dementia. And of course there will be company, coffee and cake! Keep an eye on our social media for updates!
Here at Home Instead Nottingham we are active in the community. We organise workshops within the community to talk and explain dementia, with the aim of increasing public understanding about the condition. We strive for a society where dementia is not surrounded in silence but out in the open and a shared responsibility. We also volunteer at carers’ groups and day centres to talk about dementia care, recognising the strength and support in bringing everyone together who is navigating this journey.
We understand the profound impact of our wonderful Care Professionals, and so Home Instead prioritises comprehensive training for all our team who visit our clients at home. We take pride in our programme, which is City and Guilds certified and developed by experts and equips our staff with knowledge and proficiency around living with dementia, and underlines our pioneering approach.
